Meet Tony
With over 40 years of experience, Tony served California as a City Councilor, Mayor and as the Board of Equalization Chair, representing taxpayers in the state’s most populous district. If elected the first Latino Treasurer of California, Tony will champion smart investment in affordable housing, education and local infrastructure for every Californian.
Issues
Affordable Housing
The top challenge California faces is affordable housing. Tony will streamline permitting requirements and offer tax benefits to incentivize new housing development. He will also continue efforts like the educational campaign launched to help low-income housing applicants claim property tax exemptions.
Education
Our educational institutions should be a priority for in-state investment. Tony will make sure an all-star team of professionals helps dial in a plan to build up California’s public education.
A champion for the Latino community
Tony will champion equal rights for all, including the Latino community, which often remains disenfranchised from the State’s financial prowess. Cities throughout California, especially emerging Latino-controlled entities, are the catalyst for prosperity and creative energy.

Accomplished & Endorsed:
Tony formed a Disaster Task Force that protected small businesses during COVID-19 lockdowns. His team published an Issue Paper, drafted statewide guidance, proposed legislation and sought a Governor Executive Order to get the deadlines extended, so that taxpayers would not be fined late penalties.
His team responded to nearly 20,000 residents when Proposition 19 was enacted in 2021. Tony instituted a Work Group to invite public input, complaints, questions, and concerns from everyone, ensuring that each submission was addressed in writing, online, or by phone.
